Jack W. Melton, Jr. is first and foremost a professional photographer with over 85 Civil War magazine covers to his credit. He is the collecting communities most respected authority on Civil War artillery and has co-authored four books on the subject, (Field Artillery Ordnance 1861-1865, Melton & Pawl's Guide to Civil War Artillery Projectiles, In The Line Of Fire and Confederate Bowie Knives) and worked on another 18 reference books. Jack is a member of The American Society of Arms Collectors, The Company of Military Historians, Vice-President of the Civil War Roundtable of Atlanta, Ohio Valley Military Society, and an accredited by The International Society of Appraisers (ISA). He has been an active collector of Civil War and military artifacts since 1974 and his expertise is sought out by enthusiasts around the country to identify, document, appraise and photograph their antique military collectibles. Photographer for the award winning North South Trader's Civil War magazine, Man at Arms for the Gun and Sword Collector magazine, Atlanta History Center and Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History (in Association with the Smithsonian Institution).
