P-51 Exhaust Stack

WWII P-51 Mustang Exhaust Stack from Lt. Jerome E. Jahnke's plane which crashed on Lawling Hall Farm, Latchingdon on August 12, 1944.  Jahnke took off from Debden, England on a bombing mission against targets deep inside France when he immediately experienced engine trouble.  He attempted to continue the mission, but was blinded by smoke from the burning engine and decided to bail out.  His P-51, Code OP-T, #43692 was recovered in 1976 and was returned to Duxford for display. Comes with a laminated narrative of the crash and photo of Jahnke and his 334th Fighter Squadron.
